The World’s Strongest Man Mark Henry is Coming to Shreveport
Shreveport's comic con, Geek'd Con, is coming back this August. The dates are August 16-18 at the Shreveport Convention Center. The event usually draws thousands of fans from around the country to meet and greet their favorite stars from movies, TV, and video games.
Geek'd Con has become one of the biggest pop culture events in the entire state of Louisiana. Drawing fans and vendors from every corner of the United States, and creating millions of dollars in economic impact for the Shreveport and Bossier City area.
Tickets for this year's Geek'd Con are available right now. You can get yours here.
The guest lineup will include horror movie icon Tony Todd, E.T. stars Henry Thomas and Dee Wallace, the voice of Master Chief Steve Downes, award winning actor Billy Zane, the voice of Mickey Mouse Bret Iwan, John C. McGinley from Scrubs (and a bunch of other great movies), and many more incredibly talented celebrities.
One of the other celebrities set to appear is two-time Olympian and WWE Hall of Fame member, Mark Henry.
The World's Strongest Man isn't just a pro wrestling gimmick for Mark Henry, it's real. He was a US Olympic power lifter in 1992 and 1996, was a Pan-Am Gold Medalist, Powerlifting World Champion, world record holder, and won the inaugural Arnold Strongman Classic.
When it comes to wrestling, there's a reason he's in the Hall of Fame. During his 25-year-career, Mark Henry won the World Heavyweight Championship, ECW Championship, and WWF European Championship. He was named Pro Wrestling Illustrated's Most Improved Wrestler of the Year in 2011, and was ranked as the #9 wrestler in the PWI 500 in 2012.
Mark Henry took part in many legendary WWE/WWF moments. Including in 2011 at the Vengeance pay-per-view event where Mark Henry suplexed the Big Show and destroyed the ring. Its a clip that is constantly ranked as one of WWE's most impressive moments of all time.
Of course, Mark Henry is also a great addition, because he's from the metropolis of Silsbee, Texas...just 3 hours from Shreveport. There's also a rumor that Mark Henry competed at an Olympic qualifying event in Shreveport back in the day.
Having all of these stars at Geek'd Con gives you the ability to get autographs in person, and also your chance to get pictures with those celebrities. Most celebrities are all about taking selfies at their booths, but they also give you the chance to have a professional photo taken too. Though some of the guests do not do pictures at their tables, and only do Pro Photo Ops.
