Shreveport's comic con, Geek'd Con, is coming back this August. The dates are August 16-18 at the Shreveport Convention Center. The event usually draws thousands of fans from around the country to meet and greet their favorite stars from movies, TV, and video games.

But this year, Geek'd Con is expanding to include a new event.

In 2024, Geek'd Con will host the first ever Shreveport Sports Card Expo. This will be 3 days filled with sports card dealers, sports memorabilia, and athletes present to sign autographs for fans.

The inaugural Shreveport Sports Card Expo will feature a pair of LSU National Champions...from two different sports.

First up is Shreveport native Jacob Hester.

Hester is an LSU icon. One of the reasons why the #18 means so much inside the football program. He was a member of the 2007 National Championship team, and provided one of the most iconic moments in LSU football history during that season. Creating an image that is framed in thousands of households, and haunts Florida fans to this day.

When LSU and Florida met in 2007, Jacob Hester could not be stopped. Fourth down after fourth down, Hester was moving the chains. Then, on the goal line, Hester delivered one of the most memorable touchdowns in LSU history. With 1:14 left on the clock in the fourth quarter, and Florida up by 3, Hester blasted through the Gator defense for the go-ahead touchdown.

You will be able to meet Jacob Hester this year at the Shreveport Sports Card Expo inside Geek'd Con.

But he won't be the only LSU National Champion there. Because another 318 Great will also be in the house.

Bossier City's Todd Walker will also be joining the event.

After playing his high school baseball at Airline High School in Bossier City, Todd Walker was drafted in the 51st Round of the MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers. But he decided to take his talents to Baton Rouge...and that was probably a good choice.

At LSU, Walker became a Tigers baseball legend. A player that some consider to be the best second baseman in LSU history.

Walker won the 1993 National Championship with LSU, and was named the College World Series Most Outstanding Player. His #12 has been retired by the LSU Baseball program, and LSU added him to their Hall of Fame. But that's not the only Hall of Fame that Walker has been added to. In 2009, Walker was named to the National College Baseball Hall of Fame.

After his LSU career, Walker was a 1st round MLB Draft pick (#8 overall), and would spend 12 years in the majors. He spent most of his career with the Minnesota Twins, but was a fan-favorite on multiple teams. Including gaining a following while playing for the Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, and Cincinnati Reds.

Walker finished his MLB career with a .289 average, over 1,300 hits, and over 100 home runs.

You can meet Todd Walker this August in Shreveport.
