How to Get Custom Comic Art and Commissions at Geek’d Con 2026

Geek'd Con 2026 is right around the corner. It's happening at the Shreveport Convention Center August 14-16 in Downtown Shreveport (you can buy your tickets here). And this, like every other year, is going to be a BLAST. Tons of amazing guests like Lea Thompson and Christopher Mintz-Plase, hundreds of vendors, all sorts of interactive stuff to do...it's just going to be a great weekend to celebrate everything Geek!

But, one thing that doesn't get talked about enough are the comic books! Basically, all these types of events got their start in comic books and comic book conventions. So, I just wanted to take a moment to spotlight some of the phenomenal comic book creators and artists that will be on-hand at this year's event - because we have a really solid collection of talent.

Meet the Comic Creator Talent That's Coming to Geek'd Con 2026

This year's comic lineup features a legend, a few familiar faces, and tons of incredible talent. Let's start with Eisner winning artist and Guinness World Record holder Joe Rubinstein. I could spend all day running down his resume - from the Infinity Gauntlet story to the iconic Wolverine Mini-series to Captain America, Batman, the Justice League...Joe, quite literally has worked on everything. That's where his world record comes in - he's inked the most pencillers in comic book history. So, if there's a character you know and love...good chance Joe has worked on it. Absolute legend, to say the least.

Then we have the co-creators of the indie hit "Stray Dogs" in Tony Fleecs and Tone Rodriguez. On top of creating one of the most talked about modern horror comics out, they've both worked on some major books including the Simpsons, Wolverine, Deathstroke, The Thing, and more!

This year, Jason Turner is returning. If you remember in 2025, Jason created the AWESOME print of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in front of the Shreveport Convention Center. Jason has worked on everything from Feral to TMNT to Godzilla and has done TONS of covers for all kinds of books.

Of course, fan favorites Roland Paris & Brian Steward will be returning for another year. Roland is another legendary creator who has worked on TONS of titles including Spider-Man, the Avengers, Daredevil, X-Men, and She-Hulk, just to name a few. Agent Venom? He's a co-creator of the character! Great artist, even better guy.

Brian Steward has literally worked on everything. His art has graced the pages of Heavy Metal, Fangoria, Scream: The Magazine, and Delirium. He's the driving force behind Fantasm Media where they've produced magazine specials on everything from Kiss to Night of the Living Dead. Rock, horror, comics, photography...he's done it all and is pretty good at it all.

How To Buy Art & Get Commissions From Geek'd Con Artists

Alright. You know who is coming. You want to get some original TMNT art or a Wolverine remarque. But you don't know exactly how that works.

Option 1: Wait to the weekend of the show, go to the table and talk to the artist. You get to talk to one of your favorite comic creators, see what they're selling at the table, and figure out what you want. This is a great option if you don't know exactly what you're looking for because you get to see everything that's available and go from there. Plus, most remarques aren't that intricate and don't take a long time to do, so they're a lot easier to order on the spot.

Option 2: If you want custom sketch, painting, cover, etc., get in touch with the artist directly ahead of time. I'm going to use a personal story here - I'm a HUGE Spider-Man fan. Our first year, we had Sam De La Rosa coming to the show. Love his Venom work. So, I wanted a sketch cover of Spidey fighting Venom (illustrated above). So, I simply messaged him on Facebook and said "Hey, you're coming to Shreveport. This is exactly what I want", he got me the prices, asked questions about poses, I paid in advanced and I have a one of a kind piece of Spider-Man art that sits on my desk that I absolutely love.

The point: Most artists are quick to respond and want you to get the piece you really want. Unfortunately, due to the nature of cons, it's some times hard to get EXACT commission you want without a little pre-planning. Not impossible, but difficult. They have their commission load, people are stopping by the talk, they're signing books, doing remarques, etc.. But if you plan ahead and reach out before the show, it makes the experience smoother, there's no surprises on the cost, and you get exactly what you want.

You can also send him an email/message through Facebook where he seems to be very responsive. Brian Steward has a website and a place to 'hire him' for art. You can also message him on Facebook.

Tony Fleecs, Tone Rodriguez, Jason Turner, and Roland Paris all have social pages and/or websites. Reach out, ask questions, make an order. From being involved in Geek'd Con since the start and going to conventions before that, most comic artist will only get mad if you're intentionally wasting their time. If you're genuine, honest, and legit, you're usually golden (there's a select few where that's not the case...but none of those people are on the list).
