A Decade Of Geek’d Con Brings Fans Together In Shreveport

Last week, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of Geek'd Con at the Shreveport Convention Center. And, man...what a journey it has been!

Over the last decade, the show and community around it has grown tremendously. It started out as an idea about 11-ish years ago. Became a reality. And over time, went from a 3 day show to a week's worth of events around the City.

There are people that attend each and every year, and they truly are apart of our family! Every year, when I'm talking to people through the weekend I hear things like "I've been coming to this since I was a kid" or "We moved away to Iowa 8 years ago, but we still come back every year for this show". It's wild, it's moving, and it's absolutely incredible.

Case and point - this post from John Wesley Shipp. He was here in 2018 (our 3rd year) and this year. And he shared a picture with the same fan at our show. I remember her photo with John (we use it as one of our stock images) and now I see her annually as a contestant in our cosplay contest.

And that's just one example! We found a couple other videos on the internet from the early years of Geek'd Con that really made us take a step back and reflect on the journey we've all been on together.

Here's a few videos we found online showing the evolution of the show from 2015. Back then, we were only in the first couple bays of the Shreveport Convention Center, no upstairs, a panel room we shared with another organization...and then this weekend, we had an incredible two floors with a food court, the Bricks 4 Kidz lab, 2 panel rooms and all kinds of stuff.
