Rodney Crowell

GRAMMY award winner Rodney Crowell has long been known as a poet among songwriters. Crowell migrated from Texas to Nashville in the 1970’s to learn to be a songwriter.  His talents quickly earned a spot in Emmylou Harris’ Hot Band, where he honed his skills.  After spending several years in his own band The Cherry Bombs, Crowell embarked on his solo career with the 1988 release Diamonds and Dirt, which charted an unprecedented 5 #1 singles.  With acclaim and commercial success under his belt he made a clean break from mainstream record labels with the release of the autobiographical album, The Houston Kid. Since that turning point, he has released Sex And Gasoline, Fates Right Hand, produced the likes of Rosanne Cash and Chely Wright and written a critically acclaimed memoir titled Chinaberry Sidewalks; which earned comparisons to the writing style of Mark Twain in a glowing New York Times review. His songs have been recorded by the likes of Emmylou Harris, Norah Jones, Lucinda Williams, Kris Kristofferson, Rosanne Cash, Keith Urban and Tim McGraw.  His album, KIN was co-written with literary giant Mary Karr and was released in 2012.  Following his current album with his dear friend Emmylou Harris, who helped him to make his mark, many years ago, he will release a yet to be titled solo album. Crowell in 2013 is as prolific today as he was thirty years ago and has joined an elite class of masterful storytellers whose words in print and in song can open the mind and speak directly to the heart.
