Summer Budgeting Strategies for Convention Attendees
Pacing expenditures over the summer months can prevent financial the strain of trying to fund an entire convention weekend at once. This timeline offers a structured approach to managing the costs of admission, pro photo ops, and memorabilia.
Allocating specific expenses to individual paychecks allows attendees to clear costs prior to entering the venue...the initial financial step involves securing admission passes to establish a baseline budget. Buying passes early prevents last-minute scrambling at the box office.
Geek'd Con Budgeting Cheat Sheet
When you are looking at your convention budget, the easiest way to handle it is to spread the costs out over the summer. Instead of looking at specific dates on a calendar, let's break this down by how far out we are from the event.
Here is how you can pace your spending before August rolls around:
8-10 Weeks Away: Knock out your admission passes immediately. Buying your tickets early knocks out a necessary cost, saves you from paying higher door prices, and keeps you out of the extra box office lines at the Shreveport Convention Center.
6-8 Weeks Away: Book your priority pro photo ops. Celeb Photo Ops will have tons of incredible once-in-a-lifetime photo ops this year. Including numerous iconic horror guests IN COSTUME for their photo ops. By knocking out a photo op now, you guarantee yourself at least one celebrity moment during the event that you won't have to pay for on-site.
4-6 Weeks Away: Get your physical items ready. If you need specific comic books, Funko Pops, or action figures signed, buy them now. Giving yourself a five-week buffer means you won't have to stress about online shipping delays, crossing your fingers a vendor will have what you need, or hunting through local shops at the last minute.
3 Weeks Out: Lock in another pro photo op with Celeb Photo Ops. If you have your tickets done, and two photo ops paid for before you even get to the week of Geek'd Con, you have a very complete convention weekend locked in.
The Week Before: Pull your physical cash. Celebrities set their own autograph prices and collect payment right at their tables. Some of them do take card payments, but many will be cash only. Getting cash back a few times the week before will give you cash on-hand as the show starts. There will be ATMs at the Convention Center, but doing it before the show lets you skip the massive ATM lines...and protects you from those moments when the ATMs run out.
By the time you walk through the doors in mid-August, your major expenses are already handled, and you can just focus on the vendor room.
Advanced Ticket Availability and Photo Op Bookings
Admission tickets for the three-day event are available for purchase online through official channels. For attendees looking to avoid online ticketing fees, physical in-person ticket sales are active at designated regional outlets including Excalibur Comics, Gamers XP, and SportsCards Louisiana...providing multiple points of purchase.
Professional photo sessions with celebrity guests must be booked separately through the official Celeb Photo Ops platform. Securing these slots before August ensures access to guests before capacities are filled...finalizing the major expenses before the doors open. These photography sessions operate on scheduled timeslots throughout the convention weekend.
