Big Easy Con Brings Louisiana It’s Latest Comic Con
Louisiana seems to have comic con fever. With comic con style events popping up in all corners of the state, from Shreveport's Geek'd Con to Lake Charles' CyPhaCon, and shows like Pokecon in West Monroe and (even though it's the last) MechaCon in New Orleans. The state has been loaded with geek culture events.
Now a new brand is hitting the state, and is bringing some heavy hitters along with it.
Big Easy Con is the latest addition to the Louisiana comic con scene. It's set to hit Nola on November 1st-3rd, and will be featuring a couple of major "homecoming" appearances.
The headliner for the show is the star of DC Comics' blockbuster Shazam!, Zachary Levi.
It's kind of a homecoming for Levi, who was born in Lake Charles. But Levi was raised on the West Coast, so he likely doesn't have a lot of memories of gumbo and Mardi Gras.
Their other headliner definitely has more Louisiana memories. Because Anthony Mackie, Marvel's Falcon (and possibly Captain America), is from New Orleans.
Mackie was born in New Orleans, and attended high school at Warren Easton Sr. High and the New Orleans Center For Creative Arts. Mackie even worked for his father's roofing business in the New Orleans area when he was young.
So having to major comic book movie stars headlining the event is pretty incredible.
Other guests set for Big Easy Con include WWE superstars The New Day, muscian Weird Al Yankovic, Star Trek stars Michael Dorn, Marina Sirtis, and Brent Spiner, as well as Walking Dead star Laurie holden, and many more.
