Continuing the tradition of amazing bluegrass on top of Casper Mountain, The Hillbenders gave a stellar performance for festival goers. Their own brand of bluegrass brought some rockin' sounds to the traditional bluegrass style. Watching The Hillbenders perform is an experience one must experience first hand.

Making their second appearance at Beartrap Summer Festival, Nolan Lawrence of The Hillbenders explains that Beartrap is "nice and cool and calm and the people are just fantastic." Contrasted to many music festivals which are, "sweaty, hot and nasty...

The Hillbenders put on a very energetic set at the 2013 Beartrap Summer Festival. The group knows has the ability to bridge the gap between the common music consumer and the bluegrass genre, making them one of the most unique bands at this year's festival. Their spot on harmonies and very defined musical talent are just a few words to describe the wonder that is The Hillbenders. You have to experience it for yourself.

While the rest of The Hillbenders were off working on the set list, I talked Nolan Lawrence (mandolin) and Chad "Gravy Boat" Graves (Dobro) into playing a little jam while they waited to go on stage. Check out the video... you won't be disappointed...

The headline of an article in the prestigious Bluegrass Unlimited magazine sums up the band HillBenders' musical mission in a nutshell: "Making Bluegrass hip again, one day at a time." As a result, it's not surprising that the quintet recently appeared at an event in Missouri titled "This Ain't Your Mama's Bluegrass."
