Research Tells Us What Superhero Is Louisiana’s Favorite
At this point in society, being a geek is pretty normal right now. The biggest movies in the theatres every year are either sci-fi or comic books. Some of the biggest shows in streaming and TV are either horror, fantasy, or..again, based in comic books. Which is why we can put comic books up on top of the pile.
But when it comes to comic books, having comic book content on top of both mountains makes it king of the mountain.
Which Comic Book Character Is The Favorite Of Louisiana?
With comic books being the king of the mountain, being the top comic book character means a lot. So in Louisiana, who is on top?
Research from Casino.com has actually revealed the answer, and it was pretty shocking.
You might think someone like Superman, or Spider-Man, maybe Batman would be on top of the list here. But that's not what we find in this research, we find that a female superhero tops the charts for fans in 'The Boot'.
Wonder Woman is the top superhero in the state according to the research.
Who Is Wonder Woman?
The character of Wonder Woman is a DC Comics hero that is over 80 years old (the actual character, not the fictional age). Her first published appearance was in All Star Comics #8 in 1941, created by William Moulton Martson and HG Peter. But the first featured comic of Wonder Woman came in Sensation Comics #1 in 1942.
Since then, the character has evolved through comics Golden Age, Silver Age, Bronze Age, and into the modern era of comics. But its not just the comics that has pushed Wonder Woman to the top of the comic book landscape.
In TV, the Wonder Woman TV show starring Lynda Carter in the 1970s made the character a household name from coast to coast. That torch was carried by numerous animated series through the 80s and 90s.
By the time 2000s came around, Wonder Woman had started to get a lot of attention for film roles. By 2017, actress Gal Gadot brought the character to the big screen in a massive successful blockbuster. That movie made over $800 million in the box office, and led to a 2020 sequel.
Why Does Louisiana Love Wonder Woman?
We don't have that answer in the research, it only tells us who was at the top. But we can make some guesses.
The educated guess is that its not as much about Wonder Woman, and more about the diverse nature of how Louisiana feels about other characters. When fans are torn between Batman, Gambit, Superman, Wolverine, Black Panther, or Deadpool, there can be some room for a darkhorse to sneak in.
So maybe it's not that Wonder Woman was the winner by a mile...but maybe enough attention got diverted, she won in the end.
