Louisiana's history with professional wrestling cannot be understated. I mean, just ask WWE why the next WrestleMania is in New Orleans. In the interest of Louisiana's pro-wrestling history, let's see who critics think are the best wrestlers from the Bayou State.

Louisiana Is Home To Wrestling Legends

Louisiana was once the stomping ground of Mid-South Wrestling, a wrestling promotion that became so big it became the face of wrestling across Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Mississippi. From the 1950s to the late 1980s, Mid-South ran shows in places like ShreveportDallas, Lafayette, Monroe, Little Rock, and countless other cities across the Ark-La-Tex and beyond.

In the decades that Louisiana has been associated with the sport of pro-wrestling, it makes sense that there are at least a few wrestlers born here in Louisiana.

Based on the critical review of Cagematch.net and the users there, we can determine the top three best wrestlers born in Louisiana. Cagematch is somewhat infamous for how seriously they take themselves. Just take a look at what happened when people found out A.J. of the Costco Guys was a wrestler.

Cagematch wasn't very happy when fans of the Costco Guys left a few prank ratings on the profile of Big Boom AJ, so they just locked it down. If we need critical opinions, we can trust that Cagematch will be serious about it.

Ricky Saints was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and today he is the North American Wrestling Champion of WWE's NXT brand.

Cagematch users have Ricky Saints currently rated at a 7.71/10 overall

Saints began his career in 2011 and has made a name for himself with his charismatic moves, and more recently, the controversy around his departure from All Elite Wrestling for his jump to WWE has thrust his name to the forefront of wrestling discourse online.

2 | Ernie Ladd

Ernie Ladd was a wrestling legend born in Rayville, Louisiana, in 1938. For over 20 years, Ladd wrestled across the country before calling it quits in 1986. Ladd may have had longer to go in the wrestling ring, but alongside his wrestling career, Ladd was a defensive tackle for the San Diego Chargers, Houston Oilers, and later the Kansas City Chiefs.

Cagematch ranks Ernie Ladd as a 7.63/10 overall. Later in his career, the WWE would give Ernie Ladd a spot on the commentary team for the second-ever WrestleMania.

The 5-time, 5-time, 5-time, 5-time, 5-time, World Heavyweight Champion Booker T is Cagematch's third-best wrestler from Louisiana. Born in Plain Dealing in 1965, Booker T is one of the most decorated wrestlers ever when it comes to how many reputable championships he has won.

Cagematch rates Booker T as a 7.33/10 overall.

Booker T was the first African-American wrestling Champion in World Championship Wrestling history and just the second African-American WWE World Champion, just behind Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
