Actor From “Ferris Bueller”, “Twister”, and Star Trek Coming to Shreveport
Back in 2015, Shreveport's comic con, Geek'd Con started in Downtown Shreveport. Not many people probably expected the event to still be going a decade later. But it's 2025, and Geek'd Con is coming back to the Shreveport Convention Center, August 22nd-24th.
This year's guest lineup already includes a 35th Anniversary "Shell-a-Bration" for the release of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Including voice actors Brian Tochi (Leonardo), Robbie Rist (Michalangelo), and martial artists Ernie Reyes, Jr. (Donatello) and Kenn Scott (Raphael). The four Turtles actors will be joined by Francois Chau, who portrayed The Shredder in the TMNT film universe as well.
Coming to Shreveport for the 10th Anniversary of Geek'd Con is the living legend, Alan Ruck!
That's right, the wisecracking, Detroit Red Wings wearing Cameron Frye from John Hughes' film Ferris Bueller's Day Off is coming to Shreveport.
Ruck was instantly immortalized in the film, and has become a staple of American pop culture thanks to the role. But that was just an early stop in a legendary career.
He would go on to appear on-screen in the films Twister, Young Guns II, Speed, and Cheaper by the Dozen...just to name a few. But perhaps his most recognized film role came in a legendary franchise.
In 1994, Ruck joined the Star Trek universe as he starred as Captain Jonathan Harriman, the Captain of USS Enterprise-B in Star Trek Generations.
When it comes to TV, Ruck has an equally formidable resume. Cast as the lead in the TGIF show Going Places, he also served in a main cast role (Stuart Bondek) in the entire run of the classic show Spin City. He also had runs in the shows The Exorcist, Greek, The Bronx is Burning, Persons Unknown, and Masters of Sex.
But he's recently gained accolades for his main role in the award winning series Succession.
In Succession, Ruck plays Connor Roy, the oldest sibling of the family at the center of the show. Ruck has appeared in nearly every episode of the show's 4 seasons.
For his work in Succession, he has received nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series at the Emmy Awards, and Best Supporting Actor – Series at the Golden Globes. He's been a part of Ensemble cast award wins at the SAG Awards as well.
Come meet the legendary Alan Ruck this August at Geek'd Con!
